AV Installation Prices | 2026 US Cost Guide

Figures below reflect publicly advertised US installer pricing observed in August 2026. Metro areas run higher, rural areas lower. These are planning ranges, not quotations.

What pushes the price up

Wall construction. Masonry, metal stud and lath-and-plaster all take longer and need specific fixings.
Cable concealment. The single biggest add-on. In-wall power requires a rated kit and drywall repair.
Screen size. Above roughly 75 inches most installers price a two-person job.
Height and access. Vaulted ceilings, stairwells and anything requiring scaffolding.
Cable run length and route. Crossing floors or fishing through insulation multiplies labour.
Old wiring. Discovering there is no neutral wire, or aluminium wiring, changes the job mid-installation.

Where you can reasonably save

Buy the bracket yourself. Installer markup on hardware is often significant; just verify VESA and weight rating first.
Bundle jobs. Several points installed in one visit costs far less per point than separate visits.
Accept surface raceway instead of in-wall routing. Painted to match, it is far less visible than people expect.
Do the simple mount yourself if it is drywall with accessible studs and the TV is under about 55 inches.

Getting a comparable quote. Ask what the price includes: bracket or not, cable concealment or not, drywall repair or not, and whether it covers a second visit if something is discovered in the wall. A quote missing those four is not comparable to one that includes them.
