The most common AV job, and the one where wall construction decides everything.
A television on a wall is a static load hanging off a small number of fixings, with a lever arm if the mount articulates. It is straightforward work with the right fixings and genuinely dangerous with the wrong ones.
| Screen size | Typical weight | Fixing minimum |
|---|---|---|
| 32–43 in | 10–25 lb | One stud may suffice for a flat mount |
| 50–55 in | 25–40 lb | Two studs, lag bolts |
| 65–75 in | 50–80 lb | Two studs minimum; consider a backer board |
| 85 in and above | 100 lb+ | Professional installation; backer board or masonry |
Weights vary considerably by model — check your specific TV rather than relying on the range above.
